چکیده

The manifold microchannel (MMC) heat sink, which possesses better transfer performance and less pressure drop than the traditional has attracted much attention from researchers in recent years. But not of them, either single-phase or two-phase ones, focused on problems about flow maldistribution wall temperature nonuniformity that might ultimately lead to system breakdown. To investigate distribution MMC six types manifold, namely Z-type, C-type, H-type, U-type, ZU-type, HU-type are considered current study. All manifolds investigated cases with water, while latter three adopted HFE7100. solved self-developed codes based OpenFOAM package. arrangement a strong impact overall pumping power required. ZU-type sinks recommended be fabricated application due their small thermal resistance lower 2×10?5 m2·K/W 500 Pa. Besides, if is restriction factor system, Z-type also recommended. In cases, naturally uniform within parallel microchannels large velocity appear have higher temperatures. authors recommend using sink boiling its bottom relatively difference 2 K.

Subcooled two-phase flow boiling in a microchannel heat sink: comparison of conventional numerical models

Subcooled flow boiling in multi-microchannels can be used as an efficient thermal management approach in compact electrical devices. Highly subcooled flow boiling of HFE 7100 is studied in two microchannel heat sinks to choose a proper numerical model for simulating boiling flows in microchannels. Results of five different numerical models, including Volume of Fluid (VOF), Eulerian boiling, Eul...

Three-dimensional analysis of heat transfer in a micro-heat sink with single phase flow

A detailed numerical simulation of forced convection heat transfer occurring in silicon-based microchannel heat sinks has been conducted using a simplified three-dimensional conjugate heat transfer model (2D fluid flow and 3D heat transfer). The micro-heat sink model consists of a 10 mm long silicon substrate, with rectangular microchannels, 57 lm wide and 180 lm deep, fabricated along the enti...

Single-phase Coolant Flow and Heat Transfer

1) Hydraulic Analysis of the Emergency Core Spray System in a BWR The emergency spray system of a BWR delivers cold water to the core after a large-break loss of coolant accident has emptied the reactor vessel. The system comprises a large water pool, a pump, a spray nozzle and connecting pipes (Figure 1). All pipes are smooth round tubes made of stainless steel with 10 cm internal diameter. Th...

Single-Phase Flow and Heat Transport and Pumping Considerations in Microchannel Heat Sinks

Microchannel heat sinks are widely regarded as being amongst the most effective heat removal techniques from space-constrained electronic devices. However, the fluid flow and heat transfer in microchannels is not fully understood. The pumping requirements for flow through microchannels are also very high and none of the micropumps in the literature are truly suitable for this application. Resul...

Experimental Heat Transfer Enhancement in Single-phase Liquid Microchannel Cooling with Cross-flow Synthetic Jet

The present study experimentally investigated a new hybrid cooling scheme by combination of a microchannel heat sink with a micro-synthetic jet actuator. The heat sink consisted of a single rectangular microchannel measured 550 μm wide, 500 μm deep and 26 mm long. The synthetic jet actuator with a 100 μm diameter orifice was placed right above the microchannel and 5 mm downstream from the chann...
